Brand identity for a vertical farming startup

JFCo grows local fresh produce that can be delivered from harvest to plate in minimal time. They use cutting edge technology and produce crops in controlled conditions, both enabling them to dramatically reduce environmental impact.

We worked with the JFCo team at the point they needed their first brand assets so they could showcase what they were about and launch their business.

JFCo came to HexStudio with a need for assets that would allow the senior team to start their business.

We did this by mapping their clients’ journey and creating the assets for each touchpoint. This included:

  • Brand identity
  • Website design and development

Having worked with the team to understand their ambitions for the company, we began by workshopping and developing the overarching brand strategy.

From there we were able to create the brand identity and tone of voice, which in turn led to the development of key communication assets and a brand new site so the team could start spreading the word.

JFCo now operates Europe’s largest vertical farm featuring 5,000sqm of growing space in Lincolnshire and has ambitious expansion plans for the future.

The British start-up will open no less than three further sites in the next 18 months, buoyed by UK online retail giant Ocado’s decision to increase its stake in the company to 70%.
